Bottalico made his Mets debut on May 5th, 2004 against the San Francisco Giants. He pitched 1 and 2/3 innings of scoreless relief in the Mets 8-2 victory. He would appear in 60 games for the Mets in 2004, all out of the bullpen as a middle reliever. He posted a 3-2 record with a 3.38 ERA in 69 1/3 innings. He also struck out 61 batters.
